ciel is an alcohol-free day tracking application developed by Amy Tourte LLC. we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring your personal data remains secure and under your control.

information we collect

data you provide

when you use ciel, you may provide:

alcohol-free day selections
personal notes and reflections
email address (for account creation)

data we do not collect

we do NOT collect:

location data
device identifiers
usage analytics
advertising identifiers
any data from other apps
your contacts or photos
drinking amounts or alcohol types
any data beyond what you explicitly enter

how we store your data

your tracking data is stored in two places:

on your device: local storage for immediate access
encrypted cloud storage: Supabase (PostgreSQL database) with industry-standard encryption

your data is associated with your account and is only accessible to you when you log in.

how we use your data

we use your data solely to:

display your alcohol-free days in the app
calculate your streaks
show relevant educational content
sync your data across your devices

we do NOT:

sell your data to third parties
share your data with advertisers
use your data for marketing
analyze your data for any purpose beyond app functionality
track your behavior or usage patterns
share data with insurance companies or employers

data sharing

we do not share, sell, or rent your personal information to any third parties.

your data is yours. we do not have access to view your personal tracking information except when:

you explicitly request support and grant us permission
required by law (we have never received such a request)

third-party services

ciel uses:

Supabase: for secure data storage and authentication (GDPR compliant, SOC 2 Type II)
Expo: for app infrastructure (does not collect personal health data)

your rights

you have the right to:

access: view all your data within the app
export: request a copy of your data
delete: delete your account and all associated data at any time
modify: change or update any of your data

how to delete your data

to delete your account and all data:

open ciel
go to settings
tap "delete account"
confirm deletion

or contact us at support@amytourte.com and we will delete your account within 7 days.

once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.

data security

we implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data:

encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
encryption at rest
secure authentication
regular security updates
no unnecessary data collection

children's privacy

ciel is intended for users aged 18 and older. we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

changes to this policy

we may update this privacy policy from time to time. we will notify you of changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "last updated" date.
